YORK, Pa. – Facing a second consecutive top-level opponent, the Widener University women's lacrosse team was upended 18-3 by the No. 8 York (Pa.) Spartans in a MAC Commonwealth contest on Wednesday night.
York jumped on top 3-0, but Widener battled back as a goal by
Gab Cohen nine minutes into the first half sliced the lead. The Pride stayed in striking distance as Annalee found the back of the net at the 16:14 mark, pulling the Pride to 6-2. The Spartans followed with an extended run that spanned halftime. The Blue and Gold got its final tally of the contest from
Emma DiGilio on a player-up opportunity midway through the second half.
Widener returns to action with a MAC Commonwealth game at Lebanon Valley on Saturday, March 20. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
