CHESTER, Pa. – Despite stellar pitching performances from
Kait Jaworski and
Jennifer Sieminski, the Widener University softball team dropped two games on the road to Alvernia in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader.
One day after picking up her first win with Widener, Sieminksi delivered another strong outing on the mound in game one. She gave up just one earned run through six innings and struck out nine batters. That one earned run in the bottom of the second was enough for the Golden Wolves, though, as the Blue and Gold was dealt a 1-0 setback.
In game two, Jaworksi allowed just two earned runs through six innings pitched and recorded seven strikeouts. However, the Pride's offense was held to just one hit in the game and a pair of Golden Wolves scores in the top of the fifth gave Alvernia the 3-0 victory.
The Pride returns to action for a doubleheader against Stevens on Saturday, March 20. First pitch from Hoboken is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
