CHESTER, Pa. – Behind a strong pitching performance from Jen Sieminski and some late inning heroics, the Widener University softball team forged a split with the Alvernia Golden Wolves, winning game two on a walkoff hit.
Â
After a disappointing game one that saw the Golden Wolves win 9-0, Widener got an outstanding performance in the circle from Sieminski in the second. In her second appearance for the Pride, the graduate student went the distance, allowing one run on four hits, striking out 14.
Â
Even with the strong pitching, Widener was down 1-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh. With one out,
Hope DiMario singled. An error and a hit batsman loaded the bases before a wild pitch scored DiMario with the tying run.
Lindsey Cooper followed with a single, plating
Mikayla Fedele with the game-winner.
Â
The Pride returns to action on Sunday with a twinbill at Alvernia. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
