MIDDLETOWN, Pa. –
Erin Phelan,
Jordan D'Ambrosio and
Jasmine Franklin each scored in double figures to lead the Widener women's basketball team past Pitt-Bradford, 87-42, on Sunday afternoon and help it take third in the Pride-Spirit-Honor tournament at Penn State Harrisburg.
Phelan led all scorers with 16 points, while D'Ambrosio added 15 and Franklin chipped in 10 to help the Pride push their record to 4-2 on the year. D'Ambrosio was named to the All-Tournament team after totaling 35 points in the tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST PITT-BRADFORD
- The Pride overcame a brief two-point deficit in the first 3:30 of the game by going on a 17-5 run to take a 19-9 lead they would never relinquish.
- D'Ambrosio had a strong showing in the tournament. The Springfield, Pa. native finished the tournament going 14-for-20 from the field (70 percent) with eight rebounds and three assists.
- The Pride also got great scoring from their bench, as it outscored Pitt-Bradford's bench, 40-16.
- The Blue and Gold also took advantage of Pitt-Bradford's mistakes, scoring 28 points off its turnovers.
- Widener also dominated Pitt-Bradford in the paint, outscoring them, 46-24.
