Women’s Soccer Honors Senior Pair, Battles York

Pride recognize Berard, Eisle with pregame ceremony

CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener women's soccer team recognized Hannah Berard and Emily Eisle before its season finale against York on Senior Day on Saturday at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.

The Pride honored the senior pair for their efforts over the last four seasons for the program. Berard and Eisle helped the Blue and Gold win 27 games during their careers and advance to the ECAC second round in 2018.

The Pride went on to drop a tough contest to York by a 3-0 count. The Pride finished the season with an 8-6-1 record and a 3-4-1 mark in MAC Commonwealth play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK
  • York put in two goals in the first half off corner kicks. The first one came in the 11th minute and the second one occurred seven minutes later.
  • The final goal for York occurred in the 65th minute.
  • Despite the goals for York, Widener did control much of the possession, especially in the first half. The Pride outshot the Spartans, 13-2, including an 8-5 advantage in the first half.
OF NOTE
  • For the fourth season in a row, the Pride have finished with a .500 record or better.
  • Alyssa Carman finished the season as the MAC Commonwealth leader in goals (10), points (22), shots (93), game-winning goals (five), and shots on goal (51). The first-year player set the Widener season record for shots and her 10 goals were good for the 10th-best total for a season in school history.
