Field Hockey Gets Late Score To Topple Albright

Haberstroh posts eighth shutout victory

READING, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team advanced to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play after taking down the Albright Lions 1-0 on Wednesday night.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • After 54 minutes of scoreless play, Margaret Howe-Consiglio scored the match's lone goal with 5:47 remaining in regulation. After the Pride was awarded a penalty corner, senior Jesse Schlosser fired off a shot that Howe-Consiglio deflected into the cage. Howe-Consiglio's eight goals and 20 points this season rank in the top-10 of the MAC Commonwealth. 
  • Goalkeeper Kylie Haberstroh came up with nine saves in the match – the second most she has recorded this season. She currently leads the conference in shutouts (8), goals against average (.800), and save percentage (.778).
  • With the win, Haberstroh moves to third all-time in single season wins for Widener with 12 so far this fall.
  • WU held a 16-8 advantage on shots and put 10 of those attempts on cage. The Pride has outshot its opponents by a combined margin of 284-95 this season.
