AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The 5-8 hitters in the Widener University baseball team lineup combined for eight hits and four RBI as the Pride downed Clark Cougars 10-8 on Monday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0 after Clark pushed across two in the first, Widener broke the game open with six runs in the third inning. Elfreth singled and moved up on a sacrifice. A walk to
Tommy McParland and a throwing error by the pitcher put runners on the corners for Brex who singled home Elfreth. Samson reached on an error. On the play, McParland scored to tie the game. Next up was Wood who cracked a two-run double, putting the Pride up 4-2. After a fly out, singles by Costanzo and Reis plated the final two runs of the inning, pushing the edge to 6-2.
The Blue and Gold got two more in the sixth as with two outs and two runners on, Brex reached on an error, scoring Elfreth, who had been hit by a pitch.
Ricky Collings scored on a wild pitch later in the inning to make it 8-2. Clark responded, getting the runs back in the bottom of the frame.
In the seventh, doubles from Fremgen, Costanzo, and Elfreth led to two runs, putting the Pride up 10-4. The Cougars made it interesting, scoring one in the seventh and three in the ninth before
Joey Zettlemoyer got the final two outs for his second save.
Buchler (1-0) picked up the win, striking out five.
