Laverty's Double-Double Lifts @WidenerMBB Over Stevenson

CHESTER, Pa. – Behind a double-double from senior Connor Laverty, the Widener University men's basketball team took down Stevenson to sweep the season series against the Mustangs. The Pride advances to 17-3 overall and 10-1 in the MAC Commonwealth for the first time in the past 15 years.

GAME NOTES
  • Laverty posted his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds. It is the second straight game that a Pride player has accomplished the feat.
  • Jared Peters led all players in scoring with 22 points and grabbed four boards.
  • Kenny Lewis, Pat Holden, and Kolbey Woodard all chipped in with 11 a piece. Lewis also nabbed eight rebounds.
  • The Blue and Gold has now recorded 15 games this season where four or more players scored 10+ points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pride opened the game by hitting three straight baskets to take an early 10-3 lead. It continued to shoot well, hitting 50 percent from the field through the first. 14 in the scoring column after one for Peters gave WU a commanding 19-point lead entering halftime.

The second act was much of the same as the Blue and Gold further extended its lead, going up by as many 36 in the final five minutes.
Turnovers made the difference in the matchup with Widener committing just nine and forcing 20 from the Mustangs. The +11 turnover margin combined with a strong team shooting performance cemented the final score and the Pride's 10th conference victory.
