CHESTER, Pa. –
Madison Ireland led the No. 24 Widener University women's basketball team with 11 points, but the Pride fell to No. 6 Amherst 87-48 on Saturday afternoon.
GAME NOTES
- Ireland also topped the Blue and Gold with rebounds with six rebounds and four assists.
- Kyra Schenk added eight points. Devan Rimmer and Erin Phelan each added seven.
- Charlotte Stern posted a career-best five points.
- Nine different players found the scoring column for the Pride.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mammoths started off hot, hitting seven of their first 10 shots. The Pride were able to cap off the second quarter with an 8-4 run on five of seven shooting, but trailed 48-26 at the half. The second half saw more of the same as Amherst extended their lead throughout the remainder of the contest.
