Kade Jones struck out seven hitters through seven innings, but the Widener University baseball team had a last inning comeback effort thwarted by Hood College, narrowly falling to the Blazers 4-2 on Thursday afternoon.

- Hood put one on the board in the first inning and added another in the third.
- Jones threw three straight scoreless innings, fanning three Hood batters in the process.
- The Blazers tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh.
- James Dougherty relieved Jones in the eighth, getting the last two outs via strikeout and keeping the game within reach for the Pride.
- Tommy McParland led off the ninth with a walk.
- D'Alessandro singled and advanced McParland to second.
- With one out, Wood cracked a double to right field, scoring both runners.
- Two groundouts ended all comeback hopes for Widener.
