Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

@WidenerWLax Enjoys Offensive Burst to Down Arcadia

CHESTER, Pa.Kelly Lynch recorded her fifth game with 10 or more points this season as the Widener University women's lacrosse team topped the Arcadia Knights 19-11 on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Dixon Field. During the game, the team sold t-shirts and collected donations with all the proceeds going to breast cancer research.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The win was the sixth of the season for the Pride, its most since 2015.
  • Lynch led Widener with four goals and six assists, adding 10 ground balls. She now has 61 helpers on the season, the top mark in NCAA Division III. It is the most for a MAC Commonwealth player since 2014.
  • Amber Bretz and Emma DiGilio each posted a hat trick in the game.
  • Caroline Kelley, Melanie Bert, and Megan Racioppi each had two goals.
  • Kristi Rohrer, Meg Steffney, and Olivia McDonald all scored once.
  • Racioppi added a career-high seven caused turnovers in the game.
  • Bretz won 11 draw controls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Widener jumped out to a 3-1 lead as Bert, Kelley, and Bretz all scored in the first nine minutes of the game.
  • After Arcadia knotted the score at 3-3 a couple minutes later, the Pride established control, scoring seven in a row to close the first half and open the second stanza, going up 10-3. Lynch and Racioppi both scored twice in the stretch. The second for Racioppi came as an incredible individual effort as she caused the turnover to start the play, scooped up the ground ball, and took it two-thirds of the way down the field before firing a rocket into the back of the net.
  • The Knights found a bit of an offensive rhythm, scoring three straight, chopping the lead to 10-6.
  • From there, the teams traded goals as after pushing the advantage back to 13-6, Widener never led by less than six in the game.
