KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Widener University softball team concluded its Florida trip on high-note, defeating Otterbein University by a score of 5-3, then downing St. Joseph's College 8-3 on Thursday afternoon. It is the first sweep for the Blue and Gold in Florida since the 2016 season.

How it happened vs Otterbein
- Pitching dominated most the morning, resulting in a scoreless tie entering the sixth inning.
- Mikaela Lovell got it started, taking one for the team after being hit by a pitch.
- Gosselin moved Lovell to second with a single.
- After an Ally McDowell lineout to short, Benozich walked, loading the bases with one out.
- Malia Calciano singled, knocking in Lovell and Gosselin and giving the Pride a 2-0 advantage
- The Cardinals evened the score in the bottom of the sixth and neither team got a run in the seventh, resulting in extra innings.
- Tiebreaker rules state that each team begins with a runner on second base in extra innings. Maddie Kienbaum was the designated runner for the Pride.
- Lovell began the rally again, singling to lead off the eighth. Kienbaum went to third on the hit. Lovell stole second.
- Gosselin bunted to advance the runners, but a throwing error put her on second base. Kienbaum crossed the plate on the play, providing Widener a 3-2 lead.
- Lovell scored on a wild pitch and Gosselin moved up to third.
- McDowell walked then stole second, giving the Pride two on with no outs.
- Benozich singled, scoring Gosselin and making it 5-2 in favor of Widener.
- Otterbein minimized the damage, keeping the deficit at three.
- The Cardinals got one back in the bottom of the eighth but Jaworski denied the comeback effort.
How it happened vs St Joseph's
- After giving up a three-piece in the top of the first, Widener responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning off of RBI singles from Benozich and Ariel Silva.
- Two more crossed the plate for the Pride in the second thanks to an Ally McDowell triple.
- Four runs in the fourth by Widener cemented the final score.
- Stellar pitching from Powell and Isabella Kostic held the Bears scoreless for the final six innings.
