CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's lacrosse team topped the 20 goal mark for the third time this season as the Pride picked up its first MAC Commonwealth win of the year, 24-9 against Lycoming on Saturday afternoon.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• 10 different players scored for the Pride, led by seven goals from Melanie Bert, tying a career-high.
• Kelly Lynch was effective both scoring and distributing with five goals and five assists to go along with four ground balls.
• Caroline Kelley, Emma DiGilio, Kristi Rohrer, and Meg Steffney each had two markers for Widener.
• Amber Bretz, Hannah McDevitt, Kaylee Horchak, and Olivia McDonald each tallied once.
• Bretz had 13 draw controls in the contest.
• In net, Katie Hayes made five saves and caused two turnovers.
• The 24 goals are the most for the Pride in nearly a calendar year, last scoring 24 on March 31, 2018 against Eastern.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• A close game early, Widener led 3-2 before a 7-0 spurt extended the Pride advantage to 10-2. In the 10-minute run, Lynch scored three times with Rohrer netting two.
• Not done there, the Blue and Gold tallied six of the next eight goals, eventually going into halftime up 16-5.
• Coming out of the break, Widener scored six straight, three by Bert, pushing to a 22-5 lead.
