CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University softball team competed in a doubleheader against MAC Commonwealth opponent Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon. Offense ruled game one as the Mustangs defeated the Pride 9-5. Defense and pitching determined game two with 
Kait Jaworski pitching a four-hit shutout and leading the Blue and Gold to a 1-0 victory.
Highlights
	- Jamie Gosselin had a three-hit day, scored a run, and drove in one.
 
	- Ally McDowell recorded two hits and two RBI in game one.
 
	- Marissa Camac provided the lone RBI in game two.
 
	- Jaworski's win is her seventh this season, which ranks second in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
 
How it happened in game one
	- Lycoming put up four in the first inning.
 
	- The Pride got one back in the fourth off the bat of Ariel Silva. Her double scored Camac.
 
	- Five more runs in fifth and sixth innings for Lycoming made it 9-1 in favor of the Warriors.
 
	- Widener cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth, bringing nine hitters to the plate and scoring four runs.
 
	- Malia Calciano kept the margin at four in the top of the seventh, getting a big final out with runners on second and third.
 
	- A 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh cemented the final score.
 
How it happened in game two
	- Jaworski was dominant from the start, facing only 10 batters through the first three innings.
 
	- Jamie Gosselin singled with two outs in the bottom of the third and advanced to second on a Benozich single on the next at bat.
 
	- Camac brought Gosselin home with a single to center field
 
	- The Pride defense stayed solid the rest of the afternoon
 
	- Carli Benozich gobbled up everything hit her way and made a spectacular diving catch along the third base foul line in the top of the sixth.
 
	- With two Stevenson runners in scoring position and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Jaworski worked out of the jam, forcing a pop up and ground ball to end the game.
 
Up next
Widener will play Immaculata on Monday, April 1 for a makeup doubleheader that was rained out last week. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
