ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Connor Ball and Brady Franks scored three goals each for the Widener University lacrosse team on Wednesday evening, but the Pride suffered a narrow 12-9 defeat to the Eastern University Eagles.

• Ball had an assist to go along with his three scores, recording a four point day
• Kyle Pollick notched a goal and an assist

How it happened

• Eastern struck first with an early goal a little over a minute into regulation. One more Eagle goal at the 6:35 mark put EU up two
• Connor Heisman cut into the lead and got Widener on the board one minute and 43 seconds before the first quarter whistle
• Widener started the scoring in the second, knotting the score at two after Franks beat the keeper off an assist from Ball
• Six straight from Eastern created a six-goal hole for the Pride to climb out of
• Franks got his second with 49 seconds remaining in the half
• Widener won the third quarter 4-2 with two Pride goals coming during a man-up advantage
• Trailing by three in the final quarter, Pollick found the back of the cage 46 seconds into the fourth
• Ball's third goal made it 10-9 in favor of Eastern and the comeback seemed probable
• Two consecutive Eastern goals, one with seven minutes remaining and the other with just a smidgen over two minutes left, iced it for Eastern
