CHESTER, Pa.  – Five different players found the back of the net, but the Widener University women's lacrosse team was upended 14-5 by Swarthmore in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Melanie Bert, Amber Bretz, Caroline Kelley, Kelly Lynch, and Meg Steffney each scored a goal for the Pride.
• Lynch added a pair of assists.
• On the defensive side of the ball, Mean Racioppi and Ceci Puente caused two turnovers apiece. Puente scooped four ground balls to lead the team.
• Alexis Colella and Grace Lindberger each had three GB.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Garnet netted the first two goals of the game before the Pride got on the board on an outstanding individual effort by Bretz early in the first half.
• As the frame went on, Swarthmore extended its lead to 7-1 before Widener scored a pair in the final five minutes to go into halftime trailing 7-3.
• Methodically, the Garnet pulled away in the second half, using the free position to its advantage, scoring four goals on FPA.
