CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University softball team grabbed wins seven and eight on Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn State Abington 4-2 in game one, and then beating the Nittany Lions 8-0 in game two.

How it happened in game one
- McDowell's homerun put the Pride up 1-0 in the bottom of the first
- Abington tied it in the third, then scored one more in the fourth, giving the Nittany Lions a 2-1 advantage
- Malia Calciano replaced Sydney Powell on the mound in the top of the fourth. She held Abington scoreless, and then in the bottom of the inning, Calciano knocked in the game-tying run
- Carli Benozich had the game-winning single in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Gosselin and Hope DiMario
- Kait Jaworski pitched the final two innings
- Calciano got the win
How it happened in game two
- Two Widener runners crossed the plate in the first
- Benozich got another RBI, building the Pride lead to three in the second
- Fielding errors by Abington helped the Pride create a comfortable margin
- Robinson's homerun gave the Pride its seventh
- Kait Jaworski pitched a complete game shutout
