HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Things got off to an excellent start for the Blue and Gold, going up 12-2 just more than three minutes into the game. Misericordia battled back, using a 13-2 run, taking a one point lead at the 2:57 mark.
  • The Pride recovered, scoring nine of the final 11 points in the frame, capped by a trey from Rimmer to lead 23-17 after 10 minutes. Another basket and two free throws pushed Widener up 27-17 early in the second.

  • A slow start to the second half offensively allowed the Cougars to build a nine point lead, before a burst by the Pride, capped by a steal and score in the waning seconds of the stanza by Nicole Barnes cut the Cougars' lead to 54-48 heading into the final 10 minutes.
  • Keeping the momentum, Widener sliced the lead to 56-53 on a free throw by Ireland with 7:32 left. Misericordia pushed the lead back out to eight and held WU at arm's length for the remainder for the contest.
