@WidenerFHockey Fights Hard Against LVC in #MACchamps Semifinal

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Widener University field hockey team battled Lebanon Valley in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals on Wednesday evening, outshooting the Dutchmen 12-6 and taking the game to OT. WU fell to LVC 1-0 with the goal coming at the two minute mark in the extra period.

It was a historic season for the Pride. The group carved its name in the Widener record books after winning the most games in program history (15-4.) The team led the MAC Commonwealth in shots with 352. It also had the highest save percentage at .836.

Jackie Daniels finished the season tied for the third most goals, scoring 10 throughout the year. Madi Radnoff was right behind her with nine. Jesse Schlosser led the team in assists with seven. Against Drew on September 4, she tied a school record for helpers in a game with three.

First Quarter Notes
Lexie Eberly made an outstanding defensive save at the 11:16 mark in the first period, preserving the scoreless draw. WU forced three penalty corners. Eberly, Madi Radnoff and Jesse Schlosser each fired off a shot in the opening 15 minutes. The teams entered the second quarter even at zero.

Second Quarter Notes
Jackie Daniels and Bryn Marcavage led the way in shots with one a piece. The Blue and Gold earned three penalty corners and outshot the Dutchmen 2-0. Helana Ramos halted a breakaway opportunity with five minutes remaining, swiping the ball away from LVC forward. The game was still knotted at zero at the intermission.

Third Quarter Notes
Marcavage took a corner, leading to an Eberly shot that was blocked nine minutes into the half. Daniels just missed the cage for the first goal of the game nearly two minutes later. The Pride defense did not allow a single shot in the third quarter. The score remained the same heading into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter Notes
Daniels provided the first scoring opportunity of the period eight minutes in, but a good stop by the LVC keeper kept it deadlocked. Sabrina Roberto was faced with 1 vs. 1 situation with three minutes left and came up huge, saving the shot to help WU clear its zone. Madi Radnoff caused a turnover, leading to a Widener penalty corner. Eberly narrowly missed a shot wide left. Still scoreless, the game went into overtime.

Overtime notes
Daniels and Eberly recorded a shot in the extra period. LVC broke through with 2:02 remaining, ending the contest.
