@WidenerMBB Remains Undefeated with Double-Figure Win at Farmingdale State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. Kenny Lewis posted his second double-double of the season as the Widener University men's basketball team remained undefeated with an 81-71 victory at Farmingdale State in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Lewis had season-highs with 21 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 10-of-13 from the floor.
  • Jared Peters netted 16 points, hitting all six of his free throws.
  • Pat Holden tallied 14, connecting on 5-of-7 shots from the field. Connor Laverty chipped in 12.
  • Widener has 12 steals in the game, including three each from Holden and Peters.
  • Defensively, the Pride allowed the Rams to shoot just 7-for-26 (26.9 percent) from three-point range.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tied 15-15 eight minutes into the game, a trey by Laverty sparked an 8-2 run during the next three minutes, giving Widener a 23-17 lead. The Pride maintained a 4-5 point edge for the next several minutes before a three by Peters and a layup from Holden extended the advantage to 38-29 with two minutes left, eventually going into halftime up 42-35.
 
In the first seven minutes of the second stanza, the Blue and Gold started to put the game away, scoring 17 of the first 24 points to go up 59-42 at the 12:51 mark. Farmingdale State chipped away, getting the lead to 75-69 with 37 seconds left, but Widener hit all eight of its free throws in the 61 seconds of the contest to ice things.

The Pride opens conference play on Wednesday, December 4 when it hosts Lebanon Valley at 6:00 p.m.
