CHESTER, Pa. – Behind 16 kills from
Claire Kaufmann and a double-double from
Shelby Motz, the Widener University women's volleyball team topped the Alvernia Golden Wolves 25-15, 25-14, 25-23 in a MAC Commonwealth match on Wednesday evening.

MATCH NOTES
- It was the second-highest kill total of the season for Kaufmann who also hit .433 in the contest.
- Motz's effort was her fifth double-double of the season.
- Hollie Jones added eight kills against just two errors.
- Three players finished with double-figures in digs. In addition to Motz pulling out 13, Ashley McAfee had 15 and Kayla Ewart recorded 10 including a diving save that set up the match-winning kill by Jones.
- Sydney Nichols set up with offense with 22 assists. Emma Wilcock added 18. Nichols also added two aces.
- The Blue and Gold hit above .220 in all three sets, highlighted by a .300 mark in the second.
- In the opening two sets, Widener wasn't significantly challenged, going up 14-7 in the opener and 17-9 in the second before extending the lead for the victory.
- The third frame seemed to be trending the same way as the Pride consistently held a three point edge before opening up a 19-13 advantage. Alvernia roared back, scoring eight of the next 10 points to knot things at 21-21. WU responded, scoring four of the final six to claim the match.
