Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Two Goals from Daniels Lead @WidenerFHockey to 10th Straight Win

CHESTER, Pa. – Two goals from Jackie Daniels, and one from Kelsi Walker, lifted the Widener University field hockey team to its 10th straight victory on Tuesday night as the Pride took down the Goucher College Gophers 3-0.

Last week's win against Hood solidified the best start in program history for WU as the Blue and Gold continues to etch its mark in the Widener record books.

Highlights
  • Daniels started the scoring with her eighth goal of the year coming in the eighth minute.
  • Walker's goal was her third in two games. She now has five for the season.
  • Daniels' second goal came off an assist from Lexie Eberly.
  • With the shutout, the Pride sits atop of NCAA Division III in goals against average (0.33).
How it happened
Widener fired off four shots in the first eight minutes before getting on the board. A penalty corner from Gianna Perna found the stick of Daniels who willed the ball into the back of the cage. The WU offense continued to attack in the second quarter. Walker capitalized on a rebounded save, beating the Gopher keeper high and doubling the margin before halftime.

After the intermission, defensive adjustments forced scoreless third quarter. Another penalty corner from Perna led to the final goal for Widener. Eberly received the corner then placed the ball where Daniels could get a stick on it. Daniels did not disappoint, burying the deflection and sealing the win.
