CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University field hockey team won its fifth match of the season on Saturday afternoon, beating Alvernia University 3-2 in overtime.
Madi Radnoff contributed two goals in the first half to give the Pride a 2-0 lead. Two goals from the Golden Wolves tied it at the break. Defensive adjustments at halftime from both sides limited scoring chances. Two minutes into the first overtime period,
Gianna Perna found the back of the cage, securing the victory for Widener. This was a huge win for the Pride, knocking off the team that eliminated it from the MAC Commonwealth Championship last year.
