GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Widener University women's volleyball team took the Messiah Falcons to extra points in the first two sets, but the Pride was upended 3-0 in a MAC Commonwealth matchup on Tuesday night.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Nicole Dorman posted a season-high 16 kills to go along with 12 digs for her third double-double of the season.
• Emma Wilcock helped out with 19 assists. Sydney Nichols recorded 14.
• Ashley McAfee dug 18 balls for Widener.
• Carly Venit contributed to the defense with four blocks.

 
FIRST SET NOTES (24-26)

• The two teams played very evenly through the midway point as neither team held more than a two point lead before the Pride scored four in a row to take a 15-11 edge.
• The Falcons fought off a set point before scoring three in a row to take the opener.
• Dorman had six kills and no errors, hitting .400 for the frame. Venit and Hollie Jones posted three kills each.

 
SECOND SET NOTES (28-30)

• Another tight set, Widener battled back from a 16-12 deficit to take a 24-23 edge.
• The Pride saved three set points before Messiah claimed the final two in order to win the set.
• Claire Kaufmann led the attack with seven kills and a .357 hitting percentage.

 
THIRD SET NOTES (23-25)

• Neither team held more than a three point lead throughout the entire set.
• Dorman and Kaufmann had three kills each.
• Nichols had a kill, five assists, and five digs.
