COMEBACK KIDS!! @WidenerBaseball with Second Walkoff Win of the Month

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University baseball team scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Pride completed its second walkoff win this month, downing the Elizabethtown Blue Jays 11-10 on Wednesday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pride trailed 10-7 heading into the bottom of the ninth as Glenn Seymour led off with a single and DeBellis doubled to put runners on second and third. A sac fly from Liero scored Seymour and a single by Dylan Peiffer brought in DeBellis cutting the lead to 10-9.
  • Bennett stood in next and hit a high chopper than bounced over the head of the third baseman for a double while moving pinch-runner Ricky Collings to third. Taylor came to the plate and bounced a ball through the right side to score both runners for the 11-10 win.
  • Widener jumped on top early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first as WU loaded the bases for Liero who doubled, plating Elfreth and D'Alessandro. Guarino followed with a two-bagger of his own, bringing home two more runs for a 4-0 lead.
  • The Blue Jays came back with four of their own in the second with The Pride taking the lead back in the bottom of the inning on a D'Alessandro single, bringing home Elfreth who was hit by a pitch to open the frame.
