CHESTER, Pa. – Six different players scored for the Widener University women's lacrosse team, but the Pride dropped a tough 13-10 decision to the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen on Saturday afternoon.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Five players recorded three points for Widener. Melanie Bert had three goals, Ashley Mastronardo and Emma DiGilio posted two goals and an assist while Kelly Lynch and Meg Steffney each had a goal and two assists.
• Caroline Kelley posted a goal and an assist for the Pride.
• Katie Hayes made nine saves.
• The Blue and Gold committed a season-low tying nine turnovers and forced 21 Lebanon Valley miscues.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Widener took the early lead when Mastronardo scored the first goal of the game 99 seconds in.
• LVC netted five of the next six to go up 5-2 with 6:24 left in the first half.
• The Pride closed the frame strong as tallies from Bert and DiGilio pulled WU to within 5-4 heading into intermission.
• Opening the second half, the teams traded goals for the first nine minutes before a pair of markers 18 seconds apart put the Dutchmen up 9-6.
• After DiGilio scored to pull to 9-7 at the 13:15 mark, LVC used a 3-1 run to take a 12-8 lead.
• Widener had one last push as Lynch scored at the 5:27 mark and Steffney found rope with 1:08 to go.

The Pride is back in action on Wednesday, April 25 when it travels to Albright. Opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
