Milestones Met as @WidenerWLax Downs Alvernia on Pink Night

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's lacrosse team scored the first 11 goals of the game as the Pride downed Alvernia 21-2 on Wednesday night for the team's Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Melanie Bert led the Blue and Gold with seven goals and tied for team-high honors with nine points.
  • Kelly Lynch poster her second consecutive nine-point effort behind five goals and four assists.
  • Kristi Rohrer how a big night with four goals and two assists.
  • Emma DiGilio and Ashley Mastronardo each recorded three points with DiGilio having two goals and an assist and Mastronardo netting one and helping on two others.
  • Caroline Kelley and Kaylee Horchak also found the back of the net for Widener.
  • Katie Hayes made six saves in eight shots on goal.
  • The Pride was a perfect 14-for-14 on clear attempts.
 
MILESTONE TRACKER
  • With her final goal of the game at the 2:14 mark of the second half, Bert recorded her 100th career point.
  • Lynch scored her fifth goal of the night with 4:43 left in the contest, giving her 50 for the season, the 11th player in program history to hit the half century mark.
  • The junior also helped out on a Rohrer goal with a little under 13 minutes to go in the opening frame. It was her fourth assist of the contest and 40th of the season, making her just the second player in Widener history with 40 or more helpers in a year.
 
UP NEXT
The Pride remains at home on Saturday, April 21 when it takes on Lebanon Valley. Opening draw is slated for 1:00 p.m.
