CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's lacrosse team battled the No. 13 Messiah Falcons early, but fell 21-4 in a MAC Commonwealth matchup on Wednesday night.
Kelly Lynch,
Kristi Rohrer,
Caroline Kelley, and
Melanie Bert all scored for Widener.
After the Falcons scored the first goal of the game just less than two minutes in, the Pride knotted the score a minute later on a score by Kelley. Messiah followed with five unanswered tallies to go up 6-1. After a timeout, Bert, Rohrer, and Lynch found the back of the net in succession, needing just three minutes to chop the edge to 6-4. From there, the Falcons clamped down on defense and put the game away.
Widener is back in action on Saturday, April 14 when it takes on Lycoming. Opening draw from Williamsport, Pa. is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
