Boxscore GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Widener University women's volleyball team gave a valiant effort, but fell in the MAC Commonwealth Championship First Round 3-0 to the Messiah Falcons
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Dorman had 11 kills in the match. She finishes her career with 1,456, the second most in Widener women's volleyball history.
  • Claire Kaufmann posted 11 kills, her sixth match this season in double digits.
  • Natalie Winn had four blocks for the Pride, giving her 34 for the season.
  • Ashley McAfee posted 18 digs. Sydney Nichols had 16 assists.
  • Widener finished the season with 16 wins, its most since 2013.
 
FIRST SET NOTES (21-25)
  • After the Falcons jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead, Widener ripped off six points in a row, the last two on blocks, two from Natalie Winn and one each from Dorman and Alnisha Saintilus, to go up 9-7 and force a Messiah timeout.
  • The early four-point cushion was the largest of the set until the latter stages. With the score tied 20-20, the Falcons claimed five of the final six points to take the frame.
  • Dorman led the Pride with five kills in the set, hitting .500.
  • Kaufmann posted three kills and hit .333. McAfee had six digs.
  • Winn had a solo block and two assists in the stanza.
 
SECOND SET NOTES (20-25)
  • Another evenly played set early, Widener used a 4-1 run to take a 14-11 lead before the Falcons ripped five points in a row.
  • Back-to-back good swings by Dorman helped the Blue and Gold knot the score at 16-16. Messiah responded, scoring six of the next eight points to pull away.
  • Dorman continued her strong night with four kills.
 
THIRD SET NOTES (21-25)
  • Widener came out with a spark in the third and rode it to a 12-9 lead.
  • Messiah battled back and took a 16-15 lead midway through the frame.
  • The Pride kept the set tight until a final Falcons flurry.
