Boxscore READING, Pa. -  The Widener University men's soccer team displayed a valiant effort against conference opponent Alvernia on Wednesday night, but unfortunately dropped the match in double overtime by a score of 2-1.

The Pride started the scoring in the 24th minute. Kevin McKenna received a cross from Peter O'Connor from the right side and put the ball past the Golden Wolves keeper. An Alvernia goal in the 33rd minute led to a tie at intermission. Defensive adjustments at the break resulted in a scoreless second half. A goal by AU in the 104th minute ended the match. John Warwick tallied 12 saves.

Up next, the Pride stays on the road and travels to Grantham, Pa. for a matchup against #2 Messiah. Play will begin at 6:00 p.m.
