Women's Soccer Defeats Rutgers-Camden, 6-4, in Back-And-Fourth Battle

CAMDEN, N.J — The Widener University women's soccer team came out victorious with a 6-4 win over Rutgers-Camden in a back-and-fourth battle on Wednesday night at Rutgers-Camden Community Park.

KEY PLAYERS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rutgers-Camden got on the board first with a goal from Melissa Peel.
  • Lauren Wilson fired a shot that slipped out of the keeper's hands and allowed the Pride to tie the match 1-1.
  • The game was then back-and-fourth until the 63rd minute when Fenton put the Pride ahead 4-3.
  • Scannell added two assurance markers giving Widener a 6-3 lead.
  • Savanna Celia scored the last goal of the match for the Raptors, however, it was not enough to come back from the deficit.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Widener outshot Rutgers-Camden 19-10.
  • Sam Thach made 2 goals in net for the Pride and Katie Curba turned away four shots in the losing effort.
