CHESTER, Pa. (April 22, 2017) - Sophomore
Kelly Lynch (Springfield, Pa.) scored seven goals to lead the Widener University women's lacrosse team to a 12-9 victory over Hood in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon at the Edith R. Dixon field.
Lynch put Widener ahead within the first five minutes of the game to start the back-and-fourth battle between the two teams. With the game tied at three, Lynch and freshman
Melanie Bert (Oceanside, N.Y.) each tacked on another goal to send them into the recess with a 5-3 lead.
The Pride came out strong in the second half by immediately scoring two back-to-back goals to pad their lead. After the exchanging of goals between the two teams, the Blazers went on a 4-0 run to put them ahead by one; however, Widener came back with a 4-0 run of their own to give them the 12-9 victory.
Sophomore
Katie Hayes (Lebanon, Pa.) picked up the win between the pipes for Widener with three saves. Rylie Benoit-Nobis suffered the loss with twelve saves.
Widener will return to action on Tuesday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m. as they travel to Grantham, Pa. to take on Messiah.
