RADNOR, Pa. (Mar. 16, 2017) – The Widener University women's lacrosse team fell to Cabrini by a 16-7 score on Thursday evening in Radnor, Pa.
The Pride captured the lead early with a free position goal from sophomore Kaylee Horchak (Mullica Hill, N.J.), but Cabrini answered back with two quick goals which put them ahead 2-1. Freshman Melanie Bert (Oceanside, N.Y.) tied the game with an assist from Horchak, however, the Cavaliers pulled ahead and ended the period with an 11-3 lead.
The visitors attempted to chip away by scoring four more goals in the second half and only giving up five from the hosts. In the attempt to steal the victory, the effort would still not be enough to come back from the earlier deficit.
Megan Barlow picked up the victory in goal for Cabrini and Widener's senior Grace Morales turned away twelve saves in the losing effort.
Widener (2-3) will be back in action on Saturday, March 18 as they take on Elizabethtown home at 1 p.m.
