ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (March 18, 2017) – The Widener University women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to Elizabethtown by a 15-4 score on Saturday afternoon at Wolf Field in Elizabethtown, Pa.
The Blue Jays opened up the scoring but were quickly followed with a goal by Widener's sophomore
Kelly Lynch (Springfield, Pa.) to tie it 1-1. Senior
Jamie Parent (Millville, N.J.) was credited with the assist. The hosts scored two more goals after that and never looked back entering half time with a score of 7-2.
Elizabethtown (3-1) carried over the momentum it gained in the first half into the second and only allowed the Pride to score two more times. Widener attempted fifteen shots, including seven free position opportunities, but they were unable to outscore the Blue Jays.
Abby Kopytko picked up the victory in goal with eight saves, and Widener's senior
Grace Morales (East Norwich, N.Y.) stopped 11 shots in the losing effort.
Widener (2-4) will return to action when it travels to St. Davis, Pa. to play Eastern on Saturday, March 25 at 1:00 p.m.
