CHESTER, Pa. (Sept 24, 2016) – Junior
Kayla Herr (Lancaster, Pa.) scored twice to help propel the Widener University field hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Hood in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opener for both schools on Saturday at Edith R. Dixon Field.
Widener (4-3, MAC Commonwealth 1-0) got on the board late in the first half in the 25th minute when Herr took a pass from
Sarah Quintus (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and buried the ball into the back of the cage. The Pride then doubled their lead in the 34th minute of the first half when sophomore

In the second half, the Pride continued to dominate as the defense did not allow the Blazers to attempt a shot. Herr finished off a penalty stroke in the 53rd minute to make it 3-0, and sophomore
Katie Cleary (Sewell, N.J.) added another score shortly before time expired to allow the Pride to run away with the four-goal win.
