Women's Lacrosse Drops MAC Commonwealth Tilt to Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. (April 26, 2016) – The Widener women's lacrosse team dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth tilt to Arcadia, 13-12, on Tuesday night
 
The Pride fall to 5-9 overall and 2-5 in MAC Commonwealth action, while the Knights 5-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
 
Senior Melissa Sailey (Swedesboro, N.J.) opened the game up with a goal just over two minutes into the game. The midfielder's goal was assisted by classmate Meghan Garvey (Avondale, Pa.).
 
Arcadia would score the next two goals before Kristi Rohrer (Seaville, N.J.) tied the game up at two as she netted her 11th goal of her freshman campaign. Sailey would get the Pride started with three unanswered goals midway through the first half.
 
With just over 16 minutes left in the first half, the senior recorded an unassisted goal. Thirty-seconds later, senior Morgan Scott (Cinnaminson, N.J.) netted her first of two goals in the conference game.
 
Freshman Kelly Lynch (Springfield, Pa.) would give Widener a 5-4 advantage with nine minutes remaining in the first frame. The Pride and Knights would enter half-time tied at seven a piece.
 
Garvey and Scott opened the second half with a goal a piece within the first three minutes of play. Garvey added her team leading 29th goal of the year with 21:39 remaining in the contest.
 
Sailey, with the help of Garvey, would give Widener a 12-11 lead with 7:32 left in the game. The Blue and Gold held outshot the Knights 20-18. Widener also grabbed up 16 draw controls, while Arcadia grabbed 11.
 
The Pride will close out the regular on Saturday as they host Stevenson on their senior day. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
