CHESTER, Pa. (Apr. 16, 2016) – The Widener University women's lacrosse team fell to Messiah by a 19-7 decision on Saturday afternoon at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Messiah, which is currently ranked 19th in the country by the IWLCA, jumped out to a 5-0 advantage and never looked back. Jenna Stover netted four of the Falcons' first five goals to lead the scoring outburst, which was capped by an unassisted marker with 19:23 on the clock before senior Meghan Garvey (Avondale, Pa.) put the Pride on the board 28 seconds later.

Leading 12-4 at recess, the Falcons also netted the first five goals of the second half to remain in control. Widener got three consecutive markers with under 10 minutes remaining, but the Falcons responded with two unanswered during running time to seal the final outcome.

Stover finished the game with seven points on five goals and two assists to lead the way for Messiah (8-5, MAC Commonwealth 4-0), which had a commanding 36-13 advantage in total shots and nearly doubled the Pride up in ground balls and draw controls won. Shayna Delaney was also among 12 players to record a point by netting a hat trick, while Allie Colson and Audrey Liberati combined to win nine of the team's 18 draws.
