Women's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Contest to Susquehanna

CHESTER, Pa. (March 19, 2016) – The Widener women's lacrosse team was unable to come away with the victory as they fell to Susquehanna, 14-9, on Saturday at Edith R. Dixon Field.
 
The Pride fall to 3-2, while the Crusaders improve to 2-3.
 
Senior Meghan Garvey (Avondale, Pa.) recorded four points for the Blue and Gold. The midfielder, who leads the team in assist, notched two assist and two goals.
 
After falling into a two-goal deficit early, Brooke Clasing (Shrewbury, Pa.) began a four goal streak by the Pride. She would put home two goals with the first coming with 26:03 remaining in the first half on a pass from Garvey. The junior would add another just under three minutes later with the help of Kelsey Powell (Washington Township, N.J.).
 
Powell would continue the scoring streak with a goal two minutes later. The goal, which was assisted by Garvey, gave Widener a 3-2 advantage.
 
The sophomore finished the game with three goals, one assist and picked up six ground balls. Powell also grabbed seven draw controls.
 
Garvey added two draw controls and one ground ball. Senior Lindsey Brust (Pennsburg, Pa.) and freshman Kelly Lynch (Springfield, Pa.) would each add a goal for the Pride.
 
Widener held the advantage in draw controls as they had 15, while Susquehanna grabbed 10. The Pride were 17-of-23 on clearance attempts.
 
Grace Morales (East Norwich, N.Y.) recorded 13 saves in 60 minutes played in net for the Blue and Gold.
 
Widener will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Ursinus at 7 p.m.
