Nine Different Goal Scorers Lead Women's Lacrosse Over Rivier

CLEARWATER, Fla. (March 10, 2016) – The Widener women's lacrosse team received goals from nine different players as they earned a 17-5 victory over Rivier on Thursday afternoon in Clearwater, Fla.
 
The Pride improve to 3-0, while the Raiders fall to 1-2.
 
After an earlier one-goal deficit, Morgan Scott (Cinnaminson, N.J.) tied the game up at one with her first of three goals. The senior received a pass from Kelsey Powell (Washington Township, N.J.) with 27:28 on the clock for the game-tying goal.
 
Just seconds later, junior Brooke Clasing (Shrewsbury, Pa.) would score an unassisted goal for the Blue and Gold. After a few back-and-forth goals, Widener would begin to pull away from the Raiders with eleven unanswered goals to end the half.
 
Senior Lindsey Brust (Pennsburg, Pa.) started the parade of unanswered goals. The unassisted goal would give Widener a 4-3 advantage with 23:23 left in the first half. Just over a minute later, Powell would put home a pass from Scott to increase the lead.
 
Meghan Garvey (Avondale, Pa.), who finished the game with four goals, would add a free-position goal with 21:13 remaining in the first. The senior added five draw controls, two assist and two ground balls.
 
Brust added an insurance goal with minutes left in the first half for her second goal of the game. The senior recorded two assist and six ground balls in the victory.
 
Scott ended the game with three goals, one assist and two ground balls. Clasing, who finished with two goals on five shots, picked up five ground balls and grabbed three draw controls.
 
Freshman Kaylee Horchak (Mullica Hill, N.J.) recorded two goals, while Melissa Sailey (Swedesboro, N.J.), Kristi Rohrer (Seaville, N.J.) and Kelly Lynch (Springfield, Pa.) each added a goal. In the victory, the freshman Lynch recorded her first collegiate goal.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to take on Cabrini in Radnor, Pa at 7:00 p.m.
