Men's Basketball Falls to Albright in MAC Commonwealth Battle

READING, Pa. (Jan. 6, 2016) – The Widener men's basketball battled hard against Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth foe Albright, but fell to the Lions, 67-65, on Wednesday night.
 
The Pride falls to 5-7 and 1-3 in MAC Commonwealth action, while the Lions improve to 6-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
 
Junior guard Kendall Green (Mount Laurel, N.J.) finished with 15 points on seven-of-ten shooting from the field. The captain added six rebounds, with four of them coming in the defensive side. Green finished added two assist and a team-high three steals in the game.
 
Sophomore Sardayah Sambo (Middletown, Del.) added a game-high 20 points on nine-of-15 shooting. The guard grabbed four boards, with three of them coming on the defensive glass.
 
Evan Ward recorded a double-double in the victory for Albright. The senior forward grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and added 11 points.
 
Matthew O'Hara (Royersford, Pa.) added a team high nine rebounds in 13 minutes played. The sophomore forward grabbed six offensive boards and added two points for the Blue and Gold.
 
Widener recorded 32 points in the paint, including 10 fast break points.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Saturday as they host Alvernia at 3:00 p.m. in a MAC Commonwealth match-up.
