Men's Basketball Drops Overtime Conference Contest to Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2016) – The Widener men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Lycoming, 70-63, on Saturday in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.
 
The Pride fall to 9-11 and 4-7 in MAC Commonwealth play, while the Warriors improve to 15-4 and 7-3 in conference action. The two teams entered overtime tied at 57, where Widener was held to six points.  
 
Kendall Green (Mount Laurel, N.J.) led all scorers as he notched 21 points on nine-of-15 shooting from the field. The junior guard added seven boards and seven assist for the Blue and Gold.
 
Green finished with a steal in 35 minutes played.
 
Senior David Nicholson (Odenton, Md.) added 12 points and seven rebounds in the game. The forward added a team-high seven steals for the Pride. The Blue and Gold recorded 22 points in the paint against Lycoming.
 
Alex Newbold and Nykolas King each led the Warriors with 13 points. Newbold added a team-high seven rebounds, with six of those coming on the defensive glass.
 
Sardayah Sambo (Middletown, Del.) finished with four blocks against the Warriors. The sophomore was held to six shots, as he recorded only four points in the game.
 
Freshman Nick Jackson (Rockville, Md.) 11 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field. The forward added a basket from three-point range and three rebounds.
 
Widener will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Lebanon Valley at 8:00 p.m. in the Schwartz Athletic Center.
