Baseball Falls in Non-League Action to Rutgers-Camden, 6-4

CHESTER, Pa. (Apr. 7, 2015) – The Widener baseball team suffered a setback in non-conference action as they fell to Rutgers-Camden, 6-4, on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Pride fall to 9-10 on the season, while the Raptors improve to 10-9 in 2015.
 
Senior Matt Scherer (Havertown, Pa.) knocked an RBI double to deep left field in the bottom of the first. The left fielder scored Greg McDonough (Ambler, Pa.) to give the Pride a 2-0 advantage. McDonough knocked in senior Michael Rytelewski when he reached base in the first inning on a fielding error by shortstop Pedro Perez.
 
Scherer finished the game 2-for-5 from the plate with one run scored and one run batted in.
 
McDonough was 2-for-4 at the plate today, with one run scored and one walk. The sophomore center fielder also added a stolen base in the bottom of the seventh inning.
 
Joseph Addvensky (Milford, Pa.) was 1-for-3 from the plat with his first career double. The right fielder recorded the double in the bottom of the fourth inning. Addvensky threw out Raptors catcher Jon Theckston at the plate in the top of the seventh inning.
 
Junior righty Kevin Scisorek (Hillsborough, N.J.) fell to 0-1 on the season. The hurler allowed three hits, three runs and struck out one in an inning of work.
 
The Pride will be back in action on Wednesday as they host #13 Misericordia in non-league action at 3:30 pm.
