SWARTHMORE, Pa. (Apr. 16, 2015) – Sophomore left fielder
Liz Antonucci (Nesconset, N.Y.) had a hand in three of Widener's four runs as the Pride shutout Swarthmore on the road at Clothier Field on Thursday afternoon.
Widener improves to 18-4 with the win, while Swarthmore slips to 5-13 on the season.
After Antonucci led off the top of the third with a triple, a Garnet error allowed her to cross the plate.  The left fielder once again led off the frame, this time in the fifth and reached via a fielding error by the left fielder.  She scored the visitors' second run of the game on yet another Swarthmore miscue.
In the very next inning, junior right fielder
Heather Forward (Philadelphia, Pa.) drilled a one-out double to left-center and two batters later Antonucci knocked her in with a single up the middle.
The blue and gold's final run came in the seventh when freshman second baseman
Lauren DelRomano (Broomall, Pa.) reached on a single up the middle with one away.  After advancing to third on an error and a fielder's choice, the freshman stole home to cap off the day's scoring.
Antonucci was the lone member of the Pride to register a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Senior hurler
Jamie Williams (South River, N.J.) earned her first win in the circle, tossing five scoreless innings.  She surrendered just three hits while fanning four.  Freshman
Lindsey Manera (Mount Laurel, N.J.) picked up her first collegiate save, allowing just one hit and striking out one over the final two innings of play.
The Pride are back in action on Saturday, when they head to Williamsport, Pa. for a Commonwealth twinbill against Lycoming with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
