ANNVILLE, Pa. (Apr. 15, 2015) – On Wednesday night, the Widener women's lacrosse team was upended by Lebanon Valley, 16-4, at Arnold Field.
Lebanon Valley improves to 9-5 on the year and 5-1 in Commonwealth play, while Widener evens out at 6-6 overall and dips to 3-2 in the conference.
Just 1:40 after the opening draw, the Pride's sophomore attacker
Jamie Hills (Ridley Park, Pa.) notched the first tally of the night on an unassisted effort for her 24th score of the season. But that would be the closest the blue and gold would be to the home squad all game as the Dutchmen went on to score 12 straight over the remaining of the half to enter the intermission leading 12-1.
Once again, Widener recorded the first goal of the half. This time junior midfielder
Caitlyn Mullner (Aston, Pa.) sent home her 16th notch of the season. LVC added two more goals to extend its lead to 14-2 before junior attacker
Morgan Scott (Cinnaminson, N.J.) found the back of the cage on back-to-back scores off feeds from junior midfielder
Meghan Garvey (Avondale, Pa.) and Mullner.
Senior
Megan Dunn (Oxford, Pa.) totaled six saves in 47:17 minutes in cage. Her counterpart Shelby Morris turned aside 10 Widener shots in 58:00 minutes between the pipes.
Sam Boyce led the way for the Dutchmen with six goals and one assist.
The Pride return to the field on Saturday, Apr. 18, facing off against Messiah in Grantham, Pa. for a 1 p.m. start.
