Taylor Nets Five for Men's Lacrosse in Pivotal Victory Over Lebanon Valley, 12-3

CHESTER, Pa. (Apr. 15, 2015) – The Widener men's lacrosse team earned a pivotal victory over Lebanon Valley, 12-3, on Wednesday evening at Leslie C. Quick Stadium.
 
The Pride improved to 4-8 and 3-3 in Commonwealth action, while the Dutchmen fall to 8-5 and 4-2.
 
Junior Tim Taylor (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted five goals and one assist in the Commonwealth victory. The attacker recorded two goals within just two minutes of each other to give the Pride a 3-1 advantage in the first quarter.
 
Taylor leads Widener with 17 goals on the season and is second on the team with seven assist. He assisted freshman David Dagessian's (Marple Newtown, Pa.) third goal of the season with 3:26 left in the third quarter.
 
The Pride held Lebanon Valley scoreless after the first quarter of action. Heading into the second frame, Widener only held a one goal advantage of the Dutchmen.
 
The Blue and Gold scored eight unanswered goals to close out the final three frames, including a goal from Taylor with less than one-second on the clock.
 
Taylor's final goal of the game was assisted by junior captain Marc LaVine (Nashua, N.H.). The junior midfielder added a pair of goals for the Pride.
 
Widener recorded two goals on the man advantage and outshot Lebanon Valley 46-15. The Dutchmen were held to no shots in the third quarter, as the Pride recorded 14 with nine of them on net.
 
Junior goalie Tyler McClary (Galena, Ohio) recorded nine saves and two ground balls against the Dutchmen. The net minder improves to 3-0 on the season.
 
Junior Mike McIlwee (Hicksville, N.Y.) added two goals in the victory. Anthony Cipriano (Kendall Park, N.J.) and Clint Sanders (Willow Grove, Pa.) each recorded a goal in the Commonwealth match-up.
 
Widener will be back in action on Saturday as they host Messiah in a key Commonwealth game at Leslie C. Quick Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
