Women's Lacrosse Suffers Setback in Road Match-Up Against Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Mar. 14, 2015) – The Widener women's lacrosse team suffered a setback as it fell to Susquehanna 14-8 at Sassafras Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Crusaders improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Pride dip to 1-2 overall.
 
Susquehanna opened the game with a 4-0 run, including three goals coming from Brynn Reid. Sophomore attacker Jamie Hills (Ridley Park, Pa.) ended the scoring drought for Widener with 17:55 left in the first half. Hills capped off the day with three goals on eight shots and picked up one ground ball. She was one-of-two from free-position shots.
 
The Pride were 16-of-22 on clears, while the Crusaders were 15-of-21.  Susquehanna held the slight edge over Widener in goals with 26. The Pride managed 25 shots, with 19 of them coming in the second half.
 
Junior midfielder Caitlyn Mullner (Aston, Pa.) added three goals on five shots for the Pride. Mullner finished with one ground ball and one draw control.
 
Sophomore netminder Alli Yip (Magnolia, N.J.) made four saves in 39:01 minutes in net.
 
Sophomore attacker Brooke Clasing (Shrewsbury, Pa.) and freshman midfielder Alicia Dech (Nazareth, Pa.) each added a goal for the Pride.
 
Head coach Julie La Zelle and her squad will look to bounce back on Wednesday as they travel to Collegeville, Pa. to take on Ursinus at 7 p.m.
