Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Albright Edges Field Hockey, 2-1

CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 21, 2015) – A goal by junior Kaelei Renzi (Mantua, N.J.) was not enough as the Widener University field hockey program suffered a 2-1 loss to Albright in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action on Wednesday evening at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Albright improved to 10-6 overall, including 3-2 in league play, with the victory and matched a school record for wins in a season. Widener fell to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in MAC Commonwealth action with the defeat.

The Lions took an early 1-0 lead just 7:10 into the game and never trailed. Tracy Snyder scored off a pass from Amanda Smith.

Widener scored when Renzi finished a pass from sophomore Kayla Herr (Lancaster, Pa.) in the 50th minute, but Albright recovered and seized control during the late stages of the match. Amanda Long netted the game-winning marker at the 62:13 mark, and the Pride only managed to attempt one shot the rest of the way.

Aileen Taylor made two stops to earn the victory in goal for Albright. Junior Mikayla Ninos (Northampton, Pa.) turned away eight shots, while Sarah Quintus (Drexel Hill, Pa.) added a defensive save to keep the Pride competitive in the match.

Widener visits Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 12:00 p.m.
