Women's Basketball Falls Short to Conference Foe Alvernia

Women's basketball was unable to steal a road victory as Widener fell to Alvernia, 78-74, in Reading, Pa.

Freshman Allison Gallagher (Souderton, Pa) recorded a team high 21 points for the Pride. She added three rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist. She shot nine-of-18 from the field and one-of-two from the free throw line.
 
Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) added 17 points and eight rebounds for Widener. Five of her eight rebounds came on the offensive glass. She added one assist and one steal in 34 minutes played.
 
Tyra Roberts recorded a double-double for Alvernia (6-8, 2-4 CC). She recorded 13 points and ten rebounds in the victory for the Crusaders. Stevie Fortna added a game high 22 points in 32 minutes played.
 
Widener (8-8, 3-4 CC) held the advantage on the glass over the Crusaders, 34-29. The Pride recorded 16 points off of turnovers.
 
Senior Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) recorded a team high nine rebounds in 33 minutes played. She added 13 points, two assist and one steal. The forward shot five-of-ten from the field and three-of-three from the free throw line.
 
Widener will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Glenside, Pa to take on Arcadia at 6:00 pm.
