Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Posts 3-1 Triumph Over Moravian

Widener notched a gutty win in the third set and then had total control in the fourth to get its first victory of the season, a 3-1 triumph (25-14, 12-25, 25-22, 25-20) over Moravian at Schwartz Center.

Playing its fifth match in four days did not bother the Pride, especially in the third set when they had 11 kills and a .176 hitting percentage.  The Greyhounds recorded 14 kills in the set, but were undone by 10 errors.

Widener shut the door in the fourth set with 16 kills and a .256 percentage, thanks to four kills apiece from senior Kaitlin Schnalzer (Bethlehem, PA) and sophomore Brooke Ruditys (Upper Chichester, PA).  Moravian had only eight kills and a .077 percentage in the set.

Ruditys had 12 kills and 10 digs for her first double-double of the young season, sophomore Sabrina Barbieri (Glen Mills, PA) notched 34 assists and senior Victoria Miller (West Chester, PA) added a season-best 24 digs.  Sophomore Kristin DeCicco (Sewell, NJ) posted 12 digs, freshman Audrey Rucker (Coatesville, PA) notched 10 and Schnalzer closed with nine kills for the Pride (1-4).

Taylor Kornmann posted 12 kills, Mary Zacher had 10, Megan Szkolnicki recorded 32 assists, Jean Markovic amassed 22 digs and Andrea Giardina added 10 for Moravian (3-2).
