Basketball Games On For Saturday at Hood

With power back on just south of the Mason-Dixon Line, Widener's basketball teams will take to the court Saturday at Hood in Commonwealth Conference play.

The women's game is at 1:00 pm and the men's contest is at 3:00 pm.

A power outage on the Frederick, MD campus twice postponed Hood's mid-week doubleheader against Lebanon Valley and threatened to bump Saturday's tilts.  But word arrived this afternoon that all was restored and games will be played as scheduled.

The men's squad (10-10, 4-9 CC) has won two straight and is coming off Wednesday's 57-51 victory over Stevenson.  Junior Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ) grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds and junior Dillon Fields (Medford, NJ) scored 17 points.  As of Monday's NCAA statistics, Lawson was eighth in the country 11.7 rebounds per game.

The women's team (11-9, 6-7) is part of a three-way tie for fifth place in the league and only the top five teams advance to the conference tournament.  Widener posted a 68-53 triumph Wednesday over Stevenson as junior Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) scored a career-high 20 points and senior Jen Egee (Ridley Park, PA) had 17 and 11 rebounds.  As of Monday, Egee was 11th in the nation with 22.4 points per game and 11th with 3.05 three-pointers per contest.
